about

‘Paranoia' got the title when we toyed with the idea of adding a second guitar to make the sound more “complete" when playing live. A girl once called after having seen our ad at a local record store. She might have definitely been into grungier things but she wanted to try, so we arranged a rehearsal with her. Perhaps the music was too gloomy for her tastes and we could see that it was somehow getting into her mood. So whatever the original title might have been about, it was changed into ‘Paranoia’ to reflect that.
Or so the legend goes, at least. A song by Bauhaus might have also come into play on choosing the name I suspect...
Though we would have liked an extra guitar on stage, that wasn't the case. We were supposed to record the first demo E.P. a short while after that, but I had categorically refused to record anything until we all might have been ready.
The guys from Energeia had already come and listened to the songs we were going to catch on tape, but barely three months was a bit too early in my opinion. I was not ready before and I was not ready when it was agreed to do it.
I always tended to improvise the bass lines and the overdubs on the spot getting both guitarist and singer into total chaos (as it would usually happen until the very last gig) when changing most of what we had been playing up to that moment. But once you have it on tape you just have to follow the backing track. Then mixing it in the end.

lyrics

“In the silence of the night,
How we shiver with affright
At the melancholy meaning of their tone!
For every sound that floats
From the rust within their throats
Is a groan.”
Keeping time,
In a sort of Runic rhythm.
Keeping time,
In a happy Runic rhythm.
Don't forget this time
Don't forget the existence
Please take my little fingers
And please now feel the time
Keeping time,
In a happy Runic rhythm.
Keeping time,
In a sort of Runic rhythm.

about

Simon Dreams In Violet Rome, Italy

“Formed in '92 with voice, distorted bass and drums. Band's symbol comes from a sign placed on witches graves, which is jolly. The assurance of the old sound sustained through energetic expression rather than shallow noise. Two MC's through Energeia, ‘Simon Dreams In Violet' ('93), ‘Dreaming The Lost' ('94) and the self-released MC ‘Follia’ ('95) on their own label Interior Deus.” Mick Mercer ... more
