‘Lestat' was the only song that made it properly recorded out of the songs we were rehearsing with the new guitarist.
An unlikely blend of the doomier side of Black Sabbath, Play Dead and classical music. Violins and Cello sections came from that. Tchaikovsky's “Swan Lake” and the strings section on “This Side Of Heaven" by Play Dead. Intermezzo clearly comes from the Sempiternal Deathreign and Septic Death more
acoustic moments though You would have never guessed perhaps. Some friends in Sicily will guess all right I trust.
Everything we might have done after that might have been a rockier blend of everything we had been listening up to that period and summed up in what we were writing and playing.
But at that point the guitarist had already decided he no longer wanted to play and there we stopped (though we met again in a band called Blackmondays years later).
We entered the studio for the last time to record this for the Ver Sacrum/Neogothic/Apathya joint venture compilation after having refused other offers for lack of funding to enter the studio. As this was what I was perceiving our last offer on the band subject, we decided to capture live also the only two finished track, assembled from riffs by the guitarist previous band with our first drummer. For the lyrics I
remember watching repeatedly the “Interview With The Vampire" movie. I had also read the book lent to me by my friend's
parents who had worked on the italian dub of the movie, but the screenplay of the movie was the one that in a way or another went onto shaping the words of the lyrics.
My everlasting fascination with the subject contributed to the rest. When I was in New Orleans a few years later, I left my personal copy (the reprint with booklet in old gothic
lettering) on Anne Rice desk as a thank you for the
inspiration. And that means that even I no longer have a copy of that I'm afraid...
