about

‘Alive' was a cutup of riffs from some ideas the new guitarist was trying out with a previous band who incidentally
included our first drummer. I remember making a copy of the tape with portions of riffs I thought might fit into a
sequence and arranged the riffs into a song, adding with the bass the refrain which seemed to miss from the tape
sessions. If I had had a sampler and the proper background it might have definitely sounded more in a “The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste" vein. It eventually got influenced by ‘Still
Patient?’ meeting ‘Ministry’. But at that point everything was getting filtered and blended with us being a band with a more personal sound approach. But that's where we stopped. With “She's Lost Control” by Joy Division as our last effort at rearranging something because of the impossibility to
arrange our own material. “Alice" by The Sisters Of Mercy just happened to be there as well as a matter of fact.
Last gigs saw these covers performed live as our last effort to relate to an audience that grew up with those classics but also seemed to be perpetually stuck at that.
And Just when things were turning into something more
interesting. Cannot say original I'm afraid. Nor I will ever mind of not being original. We were not the bands we were
listening to. We did come from that and you can tell. And you might also like us because of that. Somehow the
temporary lyrics got to have the very same approach but using a cutup from “Master of Puppets" lyrics. A very similar final draft of the lyrics made it onto the booklet though.
Keyboards, from what Alice had learnt before losing them
because of the techno rave bad influence it was having on
Beatrice, are quite prominent in the mix of the song.
As they were in all the instrumentals programmed from how it should have sounded if I was still having one.

lyrics

Underground view
Introduces me
in an unreal world.
Unsound mind,
automatism
Faded will
subdued by illusions
Between broken lives
I don’t want to look at.
Violated mind
no...
wake me up.
Alive.
I keep still
My body doesn’t answer yet
A tragic truth
See me,
touch me,
help me
and shake me now.
Turn, turn, my head burns
A contour appears,
but it stands out faster.
now I see you
Don’t hide yourself,
there isn’t haze on me
I’m awake, alive.
I’m alive.

about

Simon Dreams In Violet Rome, Italy

“Formed in '92 with voice, distorted bass and drums. Band's symbol comes from a sign placed on witches graves, which is jolly. The assurance of the old sound sustained through energetic expression rather than shallow noise. Two MC's through Energeia, ‘Simon Dreams In Violet' ('93), ‘Dreaming The Lost' ('94) and the self-released MC ‘Follia’ ('95) on their own label Interior Deus.” Mick Mercer ... more
